The Figure Theatre Museum, which opened in 2020, is housed on several floors of a historic Appenzell house in the centre of Herisau. It features an extensive collection of local and non-European marionettes, hand puppets and shadow puppets and presents the wonderland of puppetry.
In addition to a thematic exhibition, temporary exhibitions portray Swiss stages that have thrilled audiences throughout Switzerland and internationally in recent years. For children, a «Strolchi-Weg» named after the house cat leads throughout the museum, with play stations.
