Kunstmuseum Appenzell
The museum, which was built by architects Gigon & Guyer in the form of a silver monolith, displays the art collection of Heinrich and Myriam Gebert as well as works by Appenzell artists Carl August and Carl Walter Liner.
Changing exhibitions illustrate examples of international classical modern and contemporary art. Together with the architecture, the realist-impressionist paintings of Carl August Liner (1871-1946) and the abstract expressionist works of Carl Walter Liner (1914-1997) create a stunning frame in which Appenzell landscape painting alternates with avant-garde experimentalism. The Liner Museum is funded by the Heinrich Gebert Kulturstiftung.
